Change The Voice | Worksheet

Change the Voice in the following sentences.


The sentences below are also solved by changing complex sentence to simple sentence.

1. People believe that he is an honest person.
2. Reports say that India is one of the emerging economies.
3. They say that he is crusty in nature.

Answers
1. He is believed to be an honest person.
2. India is said to be one of the emerging economies.
3. He is said to be crusty in nature. 

Idea to solve the above sentences as follows;

Let's take the first sentence;
It's a complex sentence.
A complex sentence has one main clause and one subordinate clause.

People believe (Main Clause)
It has a subject and a verb 

That he is an honest man (Subordinate clause)

Now;

Begin the answer by taking the subject from the subordinate clause (i.e. He) & the verb also from the subordinate clause.
We get;
He is

Now take the 3 form of the verb from the main clause (believe = believed)
We get;
He is believed

Now add an infinitive: to be
We get;
He is believed to be 

Now finally add the object from the subordinate clause.
Here is the answer
He is believed to be an honest person.
